ABSTRACT Since China joined the WTO, the bilateral economic and trade relations between China and EU have developed rapidly. The volume of Sino-EU trade in goods reached 57.78 billion US dollars in 2015, which is five times that of 2001. Until 2015, the EU has already been China’s largest trade partner and export destination and the second largest source of imports. At the same time, China has been the second largest trade partner and export destination and the first largest import destination of EU. In addition, EU’s direct investment in China also showed a rapid development trend. However, to keep the stable development of trade relations between China and EU, we must need to focus many problems existed in bilateral trade. In recent years, global trade has been in the downturn. After European debt crisis of 2009, bilateral trade growth rate declined or was even negative. In addition, with the rapid growth of bilateral trade volume, there were a large number of trade frictions between China and Europe, and the trade imbalance between China and Europe is becoming more and more serious. Trade imbalances and increasing trade frictions have seriously affected the further development of bilateral trade between China and the EU. However, there are also many opportunities for development of bilateral trade. On November 21, 2013, China leaders met with for the 16th time. During the meeting, the two sides jointly formulated the China-EU 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation, which revealed a common goal of strengthening cooperation between China and the EU in areas such as peace and security, prosperity, sustainable development and cultural and educational exchanges. This Strategic partnership will further promote the development of bilateral relations. China is currently in the stage of economic transformation, and the EU has gradually been out of the impact of the European debt crisis. It is critical for both China and EU to seize the moment to promote bilateral trade relations. The development of bilateral trade relations is very important for economic growth in both sides. Therefore, this paper aims to find out the internal problems in the trade between China and Europe by studying the current Sino-EU trade situation and bilateral trade friction, and then put forward specific suggestions on the further development of Sino-EU trade relations. First of all, in this paper I review the history of trade development between China and EU and learn the development characteristics of Sino-EU trade in different eras. This provides a historical background and institutional environment for the development of Sino-EU trade. Secondly, this paper uses the large amount of data to analyze the situation of Sino-EU trade and the bilateral trade structure, and take use of revealed comparative advantage index and the trade competitiveness index to analyze the trade competitiveness of China and EU’s products In addition, I make a systematic analysis of the increasingly serious trade frictions between China and Europe. Finally, I point out the internal problems of Sino-EU trade and make some responds to these problems in order to further promote the development of bilateral trade.
