Absztrakt (kivonat)

Because of the political events, Russia was hit by economic sanctions by the EU, US, Canada and other western countries, to which Russia levied an import embargo on certain products coming from these countries. The aim of the study is to find an answer to what was and could be the effect of this economic policy, namely the embargo on the Russian economy. In what processes did the Russian economy went through since the transition, and whether they used similar or other kind punishing methods in economic policy. Furthermore, I also represent the methodology of an embargo, its kinds and aims. The study tries to find an answer, what effect did the embargo had and may have on the Russian economy, taking into consideration the events occurred since the transition. It is another aspect what were the impacts on other affected countries: Turkey suffered from other reasons sanctions by Russia, but Hungary and other European countries suffered from the consequences of the embargo. The main question of this study, whether the embargo policy is simply just a reaction policy, backed by external affairs, or can it be a measure of enhancing the domestic economy? If this tool of economic policy is capable to develop the economy, then to what extent and in how much time does it take doing so? If the embargo does not fulfill the hoped function as a tool to improve the economy, then how and to what extent could it carry out its negative effects? Can it happen that the embargo policy only makes the current situation worse? Further important question is, that who are the winners and losers on the embargo policy? Does Russia have the necessary experience in punishing actions since Russia is a major party in the global economy? The data since the transition support or on the contrary, they show the negative effects on the domestic economy? What are the negative or positive effects of the embargo on the affected countries? There are any advantages what can be exploited in this situation for affected countries?
